Highlights of life with Robbie:
Twice on the Riding Club team at Novice Horse Trials Championships, once on the winning team. Twice Sec D champion WPCS Performance Show. 3rd in the NPS Intermediate M&M WH Championships (beaten by two of those pesky connies!). We never managed to qualify for HOYS or RIHS but it didn’t stop us having loads of fun together, along with enough dressage to keep him on his toes. Only 2 BD points and a few unaffiliated Elementary classes was the furthest we got. He had the talent to go further in dressage but loved his jumping so much that we always focused more on that. When he hadn’t jumped for a while he would always buck and squeal as he landed over the first couple of jumps and the jumps always had to be big enough to demand his attention or he wouldn’t take it seriously and we would be in danger of falling over them!
Always kind, genuine and a joy to travel away with as he enjoyed competing and socialising. Rather opinionated as to the best way to do dressage…he always knew best and could be strong and wilful but I never had to ride in anything other than a snaffle.
