Aberaeron Welsh cobs are bred for a purpose –
pleasure and performance.
Numerous Aberaeron horses have excelled at showing, show jumping, cross country, dressage and eventing. Here are a few. If you have one – please let us know !
In 2014 two Aberaeron Welsh cobs were ‘Highly Commended’ in the WPCS points award scheme, Aberaeron Rhodri (Welsh cob stallion) and Aberaeron Blodyn Tatws (Welsh cob mare). Aberaeron Misun also took part in the WPCS points scheme. All three are enjoying their dressage, with Rhodri & Blodyn competing at British Dressage.
In 2011 & 2007 Champion Sec D at the WPCS performance show was Nikki
Brewer’s Aberaeron Telynor ap Tywysog – an outstanding Performance Welsh Cob.
In 2002 & 2003 Aberaeron Prince (Josh) was officially named the ‘BEST British Eventing Pre-Novice horse’ in the South East (Kent, Surrey, E and W Sussex, Hampshire and Berkshire) & won the ‘Rookery’ Trophy for outstanding achievement. Another legendary Performance Welsh Cob. Owned by Liz Wilkinson & family, Josh sadly died in 2010.
Interestingly both Telynor & Prince were by Fronarth’s Ceredigion Tywysog (Brenin Dafydd X Tyngwndwn Malen). Tywysog was also the sire of Aberaeron Gwlith, making him a grandsire of Aberaeron Black Bess and Aberaeron Glaw.
